The main task of the insulation is: do not allow the inside of the pipe to cool and prevent the heating of the outside. It is known that the most problematic and dangerous place of this design is its passage through the ceiling and roofing structures. Most fires occur precisely in this place, which means that the insulation will not be superfluous. It will reduce the external temperature of the structure, and thus increase its safety.
In addition, some chimneys include aggressive chemicals that enter the condensate due to the temperature difference between the chimney material and the smoke. This adversely affects the entire system of the chimney, namely, the material is destroyed. Warming the chimney pipe increases its gas density, which means that in case of any damage, the combustion products do not enter the house.

Also, the insulation of the chimney from the brick is possible with the help of mineral materials( basalt slabs), while the thickness of the layer should not be less than 5cm. The heater is fixed with wire pieces or with foil tape.
Thermal insulation of chimneys made of asbestos-cement or steel is based on wireframe technology. The result is a composite sandwich. Before you insulate the pipe, make the outer frame using a conventional galvanized iron sheet. The diameter should be rather large, so that the heater can fit( it is very important that there are no voids in its layers).The edges are connected by bolt spikes. Heat insulation of the hood is much easier in terms of installation work, since the exhaust pipes are not exposed to elevated temperatures. The easiest way to apply a wooden box, which must be filled with a special thermal insulation material. The surface is covered with any trim, it all depends on your preferences.
