Schemes and installation of water heating in a private house

Do you think that water heating in private houses with their own hands is very difficult?

Do you think that this job can be entrusted only to professionals?

Of course, putting down a stove in a house on wood or equipping a fireplace at the dacha seems much easier.

However, take a few evenings to study the theoretical part, and you will be surprised to note that it is quite possible to make such heating yourself.

An additional bonus for you is that inside the water heating system you will be familiar, literally, every centimeter, and if necessary, you will easily replace the failed parts with your own hands.

Heating with liquid circulating in the system is recognized as the most beneficial for low-rise buildings.

Consider how to make water heating, what materials and equipment will be needed, how to properly mount.

What is required for installation?

We will need:

  • boiler or oven;
  • pipe;
  • radiators;
  • expansion tank;
  • is a standard set of tools for installation.

Before buying all this, it is worth to understand how water heating works and to develop a plan for heating the house or giving.

The diagram looks like this - the heat carrier heated by the boiler( it can be water or a special mixture) enters the radiators, which cools down, giving heat to the room.

Schematic diagram of water heating

Cool coolant returns to the boiler, where it heats up again. Due to such continuous cycles, the heating of your room takes place.

Water heating systems are divided into natural and forced. Having stopped on the first variant, you will be independent of electricity for the pump operation.

The fluid movement through the system occurs due to the laws of physics - the hot coolant expands and rushes up, and, lowering the temperature, it decreases in volume and falls down.

With natural circulation, it is necessary to observe the slope of all pipes at least 2 degrees( ideally 3-5), avoid pipes of small cross-section( 40 mm pipes are suitable for the riser, pipes can be piped to sections of heating, section 22-24 mm).

There are serious drawbacks to natural circulation: internal wiring is not allowed - when the water level in the expansion tank is reduced, fluid movement is difficult.

It is also applicable only in cases where the distance between the pipes between the boiler and the furthest radiator does not exceed 20 meters, and the area of the heated space is less than 150 square meters.

It can be seen that natural circulation with its limitations is not always applicable. In the forced system, the flow of the heat carrier is regulated by a circulation pump.

Of course, acquiring a pump is an additional financial expense when buying and plus to the electricity bills every month, but see what advantages - you are spared from having to clearly ascertain the angle of inclination, there is no need to observe a wide cross-section of risers, it is possible to make internal piping andconnect, for example, a "warm floor".

Two-pipe heating system

There are two systems of water heating - one-circuit and two-circuit. Installation of the first option involves only heating.

The second option, in addition to heating, provides hot water and is very convenient in the country, in cases where it is not planned to install a separate source of warm water.

Choice of heating device

Water heating can be carried out with a gas, electric or solid fuel boiler.

If gas is supplied in your area, heating with a gas boiler will be convenient and least expensive.

In the absence of gas as a source of heating, one can consider electricity and traditional fuels - firewood, coal, pellets.

The advantage of a solid fuel oven over an electric boiler is obvious - the cost of operation.

The use of heating electricity in the country is quite justified, if in the cold season you do not visit every day and, accordingly, you can not control the daily fuel or gas.

Water heating for a small private house is not practical, since it is more practical to just hang electric radiators.

And for a large house, the use of electricity to heat the coolant can be incompatible with the simultaneous operation of other electrical appliances.

Therefore, almost certainly your choice for water heating of a private house or heat supply in the cottage will be between a gas and solid fuel boiler( stove).

If the connection and operation of the gas boiler involves the call of a specialist, then with the installation of the furnace it will really manage on its own.

A number of stoves are equipped with a cooking plate, so when choosing a stove, think about whether it will be convenient for you to heat and cook at the same time.

When calculating the power of a device that performs heating, you can follow the following rule - by 10 sq.m. The room accounts for 1 kW of boiler output.

It is worth considering even those rooms in which there is no radiator( for example, storerooms).The capacity of the heating device is equal to or slightly less than the sum of the capacities of all sections.

We install heating: the scheme and the order of works.

Water heating by our own hands is made according to a clear action plan.

So, you have drawn a diagram of a private house, it shows the future batteries, the length of the pipes is calculated, you have already decided on the heating system at home, studied the video and are ready to start the construction work with your own hands.

If possible, the section system should be wider than the window unit.

However, in practice this is not always maintained. If the windows of a private house do not let cold air into the room, then the total length of all sections may be less than the window.

Heating two-story house

Installation of radiators is carried out clearly on the level and always below the window opening. Beauty, of course, is important, but not paramount.

An accidental bias, even a small one, will create the effect of a subterranean river - a murmur of liquid will be heard from the side of the raised edge. Therefore, check the installation level.

It is important to keep the distance from the floor and walls. Ideally, it is considered the distance from the battery to the wall is 3-5 m, and to the floor - no more than 10 cm.

To remove accidentally caught air, it is worthwhile to install a valve or Maevsky crane.

The shroud is brought to the hung radiators. Calculate so that there is a groove depth of 4-6 mm from the fitting to the edge - when heating the pipe can increase.

Use a length of less than 10 meters or weld bends to compensate for thermal expansion.

There are options for the use of copper or stainless pipes, but the most well-proven in combination "price-quality" reinforced polypropylene.

They are relatively inexpensive and easy to assemble.

There are different models for connecting radiators that conduct water heating.

The lower circuit( the supply and return are connected to the lower nozzles of the sections), it is fraught with heat loss of 12-15% and uneven heating of the batteries.

It should be taken into account when there is a risk of sand and sludge falling into the system - they will be put in a mud filter.

With one-way connection, the feed is mounted to the top of the section, and the return is to the bottom of this section. With this connection, all sections are warmed evenly.

If the number of sections is considerable, then it is optimal to use a diagonal connection. It differs from one-sided in that the bend is mounted to the bottom of the opposite section.

When the diagram of connection of sections of heating batteries is clear, we start installation of the pipe system.

Of course, it's worth watching the video editing and practice on the scraps left after the installation of the pipe in the stroba is over.

We weld the pipe and fitting with a soldering iron heated to 260 degrees. Matching should be done by pressing a smaller section into a larger one.

When combining, rotation should be avoided, this will adversely affect the strength of the joint. After the installation is completed, you can test its performance.

Do not forget that for the first start-up of a gas heating boiler, a specialist is needed, and it is quite possible to start the furnace independently.

Before closing the internal wiring, make sure that the diagram drawn is fully implemented, the seams are not leaking, the expansion from the heating does not create additional pressure on the walls of the strobes, there is no sound in the system.

You can try to raise and lower the temperature of the heating, checking whether leakage, bends or noises have appeared.

The installation of the heating system is now complete. Now is the time to proceed to interior decoration of the room.

It is important to remember that the heating should be designed during the construction phase of the house. When operating, all fire safety standards must be observed.

Qualitative warming up of the house by heating to comfortable indicators is only possible if heat losses through windows and walls are minimized.

The above scheme of installing water heating will allow you to work in the house even without experience. To create water heat supply in the house or at the dacha with their own hands is entirely possible to any owner.
