profile Installation options for drywall

There are three methods of attachingdrywall to the wall. The first and most common is fixing the drywall to the profile. The second is gluing the drywall sheet directly onto the wall. And the third is the installation of plasterboard on a wooden structure.

10

The option of gluing a drywall sheet is the easiest, but requires an ideally aligned wall. The adhesive solution is applied to the surface of the plasterboard and to the wall. The sheet is applied to the wall and leveled using the building level. This adhesive has the property of rapid drying, so the work is carried out very quickly.

Installation of drywall on a wooden structure is a little more difficult and requires the installation of horizontal and vertical guides from wood. They are fixed on the wall with screws. There is an option to install only vertical bars, but, in most cases, every 60 cm mount horizontal jumpers.

Features and varieties of profiles for drywall

For fixing gypsum cardboard use galvanized profile. Its main function is to fix the drywall on the surface of the wall or ceiling. The profile allows you to build structures of any shape and size.

When performing these operations, you will need to use profiles of different types and purposes, as well as a large number of connectors.

Advantages of profile use when installing drywall:

  • possibility of creating curly structures;
  • under gipsokartonom all communications are laid, such as wiring, ventilation system, water supply, etc.;
  • there is the possibility of forming a heat and soundproof layer between gypsum board and wall.

We offer to consider the main types of profiles used in the installation of gypsum boards. In accordance with the purpose, the profiles are divided into:

  • specialized, which sheaths certain planes;
  • profiles for the construction of partitions.

I

The first option is used in the process of wall or ceiling plating. To create designs of this type, three types of profiles are used:

  • UD profile;
  • CD-profile;
  • arched profiles.

All profiles have a standard size, the main difference between them is the size of the metal and its length.

To decide what profile is needed for drywall, we suggest to consider the main types of profiles more:

  1. The profile for fixing gypsum plasterboard UD is used during the construction of flat surfaces. For example, if it is necessary to form a frame from gypsum board, then this type of profile will be installed along its perimeter. Dimensions of this profile: width - 2.5 cm, length - 300 cm. UD profile is distinguished by a high level of reliability due to the thickness of the metal used in its manufacture. It is on the thickness of the metal that the durability of the structure under construction depends. This profile can be of different thicknesses: thinner one is used for wall construction, and thicker one is used for roofing of ceiling structures.
  2. The profile of the CD is also called the carrier, since its use is associated with the formation of metal frames and the effect of the main load on the gypsum board structure. Gypsum cardboard is fixed on this profile, and it depends on how hard and solid this structure will be. CD profiles come in a variety of thicknesses. Profiles with a minimum thickness are less reliable, therefore in the process of installation require a large number of fasteners. The width of this profile is 6 cm, the thickness is 2.5 cm, and the length is 3 or 4 m.
    8
  3. The arch type profile is also a guide or support profile, which has a large number of notches that weaken its construction. If necessary, this profile easily bends and takes any shape.

The second group of profiles is partitions. They are used for plating flat surfaces. Such profiles are distinguished by their large size and other functional purpose. They are produced in various sizes. In accordance with the width of the profiles are: 5 cm, 7.5 cm, 10 cm, 12.5 cm, 15 cm. The width of the profile depends on the technical features of the partition on which it is installed: sound insulation, thermal insulation, communication works.

  1. The UW guide profiles are used for the construction of a flat surface and the direction of the partition. Their installation is carried out over the entire area of the partition.
  2. CW rack profiles reinforce the frame and give it more strength. The reinforcement occurs at 40 cm, so that the sheets of gypsum board are attached on both sides.

Fasteners and fasteners for a frame from a profile for gypsum cardboard

For fastening of profiles different fasteners which also connect among themselves various kinds of profiles are used.

Consider the most popular fasteners used in the construction of gypsum boards:

  1. U-shaped brackets - this fastener is a perforated steel plate that is able to bend into the shape of the letter "P".Its main function is to connect a wall or ceiling with a steel profile frame. The middle part of the bracket is fixed on the skin section, and the final sections are attached to the supporting profile using self-tapping screws.

  2. Fast suspension - are an alternative replacement for the U-shaped bracket. In the case where the length of the U-shaped bracket is too small, a quick suspension is used. Its main components are: spokes, at the end of which are located ears and directly suspended, which is fixed in the CD-profile. The connection of the spoke and the suspension is by means of a special spring mechanism. The advantage of this mechanism is the possibility of adjusting the horizontal position of the profile. The disadvantage of the spring is its gradual weakening, which leads to the sagging of the ceiling structure. The use of quick suspensions extends only to ceiling structures, because, as a rule, the length of the U-shaped bracket is sufficient to fix the profile on the wall surface.
  3. Crab CD connectors are used during the installation of jumpers that connect the main profiles of the carrier type. The joint is cross-shaped. CD-connector of crab type is mounted on the profile surface and snaps on it, and then attached with screws or special antennae. Installation of the jumper is the same: first it must be snapped into the crab connectors, which are located on the carrier profile located next door, and then fixed with a screwdriver. The installation of such a product requires the presence of eight screws.
  4. CD connectors perform the function of lengthening the carrier profile. One part is installed at the end of one profile, and the other is mounted on the profile. Then they are fixed on both sides with the help of four screws.
  5. CD connectors of two-level type are very rarely used in working with profiles. They are used for the installation of a frame structure that is attached to a wooden floor. The frame, which is assembled with the help of these connectors, is obtained by double. First, the first level of the CD profile is formed, which is fixed to the wall surface and a mobile structure is constructed therefrom. Then, a second level is attached, which is connected to the first using a CD-connector. This design contributes to improving the strength of gypsum board construction in a wooden house, and repays the change in the size of the tree during its operation.

Methods of fixing the profile for gypsum board

Materials required for work:

  • plumb bobs - 2 pcs.;
  • nails;
  • chalk;
  • level;
  • hammer;
  • rope.

Attach a plumb line to the top of the wall that is under the ceiling. Instead of a rope it is better to use a fishing line, three parts of which are stretched over a plumb line to get a perfectly flat surface. The highest point between the plumb and the wall is the reference point by which the profile will be fixed.

Using chalk and an additional tension line, make a breakdown according to the pre-designed design. Using the rule and the chalk, draw a perimeter.

Before proceeding to the direct fixing of the profile, it is necessary to carry out work on its preliminary strengthening. This will require the availability of:

  • perforator with a drill bit;
  • hammer;
  • dowel-nails;
  • pliers;
  • scissors for metal.

5

  1. Begin work with the bottom part - so it will be more convenient to fix the profile. Attach the profile to the pre-defined surface, move away from the bottom edge of 300 mm, and drill a hole to fix it.
  2. Make two more holes in the middle and bottom. Check the fit of the profile and its conformity to the drawings, then hammer nails.
  3. Measure the distance that remains to the height, and add two centimeters to it, set the overlapping guides. Using metal scissors, cut off the side pieces, bend the profile outwards and cut off the middle. The pliers help in leveling the edges.
  4. Now install the guide profiles for gypsum board, fasten it with dowel-nail to the joining areas. Having done these operations around the perimeter, you will receive a profile frame.
  5. In accordance with the strength of the wall, fix the structure with metal screws, making a step from 20 to 40 cm.

To install a vertical profile, you will need:

  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws for metal;
  • fishing line;
  • rules;
  • hangers;
  • perforate;
  • dowel-nails;
  • hammer;
  • chalk;
  • pencil;
  • pliers.

Installation instructions for the vertical profile:

  1. Measure the width of the plasterboard sheet from the wall and place a mark in this place. It will correspond to the transverse middle part of the profile.
  2. In this way, it is necessary to note all the vertical parts that fall on the joints of the sheets.
  3. Divide the width of the gypsum board into several parts, the maximum width of which should be half a meter. Put a mark on the floor.
  4. Now, with a plumb line installed on the ceiling, transfer this mark to the surface of the ceiling.
  5. On the middle part of the wall, measure the distance between the ceiling and the floor. Transfer the measurements to the profile surface and reduce one centimeter. Cut the side sections of the profile, straighten outward and cut the middle part. With the help of pliers, you need to align the cut and bend the edges - this will facilitate the installation of the vertical profile.
  6. Place the workpiece on the wall surface and outline it on both sides. Divide the wall into three parts and make a markup.
  7. Attach the hangers using dowel-nails. They will help to fix the profile and expose it to the level.
  8. Install the second suspension and secure the vertical profiles with metal screws.
  9. On the vertical rails, you need to attach the screws to the level where the hangers are located.
  10. The side parts of the suspension must be bent and set vertical profiles in accordance with the line.
  11. If errors are detected at this stage, it is still possible to correct them. Therefore, carefully check the evenness of the structure.

Installation of a horizontal profile for drywall

Horizontal sections are bridges between vertical sections of a profile structure. Their main function is to strengthen the overall structure and increase its rigidity. These parts are not attached to the wall.

For these operations, the following is required:

  • Screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws for metal;
  • pliers;
  • metal shears;
  • crab connectors;
  • a pencil or marker.

Crab connectors are used at the intersection of the vertical profile with the horizontal profile.

Otherwise, perform a number of actions:

  • make measurements between two vertical profiles;
  • cut the workpiece and try it on;
  • with a marker put the marks in such a way that the profile is placed in the hole between the verticals;
  • with the help of metal scissors make notches on the side parts of the profile;
  • with flat-nose pliers align them outwards;
  • set the profile and secure it with self-tapping screws;
  • , check that the structure is even.

How to mount drywall to profile

For work, you will need:

  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • pencil;
  • rules;
  • of a stationery knife;Planer
  • ;
  • of roulette.

The standard wall requires more than one drywall sheet, so consider this installation option.

The first step is to install whole sheets. To do this work, you need at least two people. One of them presses the sheet to the profile frame, and the second fixes it with screws. The first sheet is set from the bottom, and the second is from the top. This design is more rigid. Then you need to fill the remaining space.

1

Using a tape measure, perform two horizontal and vertical measurements. Transfer them to the plasterboard surface and make a markup. Set the rule on the line on which to cut the plasterboard. Using a clerical knife, cut the plasterboard to the middle. Install it in such a way that one part of it hangs, and break it on the cut. Then, with a knife, cut the paper from the other side. Using a roughing planer, cut the slab. Do the same with the other side. Install the cut-out elements and secure them with screws. When all the sheets are installed, additionally fix them with screws, making a step of 20-30 cm.
