Selecting the material

Cold in the bathroom and high humidity are common occurrences. Especially if the room is located on the side of the entrance. To avoid this, you need to carefully think over the insulation of the bathroom. And, first of all, it is necessary to approach the choice of material responsibly.

To insulate the bathroom most often use such materials:

  1. Mineral wool. Mineral fibers, of which this material consists, let air through the heat-insulating layer. And, therefore, there will be no condensation on the wall and ceiling of the room.
  2. Polyfoam. One of the most commonly used heaters. It keeps the heat well and repels moisture. Of the main drawbacks can be identified that the foam does not pass steam well, and therefore under the thermal insulation layer will accumulate condensate, which leads to the appearance of mold, fungus and the destruction of walls.
  3. Polyurethane foam. The material is durable, vapor-permeable, moisture resistant and refractory. Due to the low weight does not give additional load on the ceiling and walls. It can be sprayed on any surface, it is well connected to the surface.

Thermal insulation of bathroom walls

As a heater for walls and ceiling foam foam can act, which does not absorb moisture. When insulating the bathroom from the inside, you need to take into account that any material makes the area of the room smaller.

To insulate the walls it is necessary to perform several stages:

  1. Clean the wall from the finishing material and plaster and apply a preparation that will prevent the appearance of the fungus.
  2. Apply the adhesive to the foam and apply it to the wall, press it gently to make the material adhere.
  3. A moisture-resistant plasterboard is glued on top of the foam plastic.
  4. The ceramic tile or any other finishing material is placed on the plasterboard. Tiles are most often used for the bathroom, as it does not allow moisture to pass through.

There is one more variant of wall insulation:

  1. To produce a metal frame from the wall profile for GKL.
  2. Put the insulation in two layers.
  3. Top of the stretch isospan.
  4. Paste in two layers of moisture-resistant plasterboard.
  5. Perform finishing work.

In order for the bathroom to be warm, good ventilation is also important, which will blow the steam out. This design also needs to be insulated. To do this, a special grille with a fan is installed on the ventilation holes, it draws steam from the room and at the same time cold air does not penetrate inside.

Do not forget about the sewerage shaft, it must also be insulated, because through it penetrates into the room draft.

Warming the ceiling in the bathroom

The ceiling in the bathroom, like the walls, needs to be insulated. Because on it the most part of a moisture collects, and, therefore, here first of all mold is formed. And to avoid this, you need to perform a number of works:

  1. You need to start work with cleaning the old coating.
  2. Treat the ceiling with an antifungal gel.
  3. Apply to the ceiling putty.
  4. Attach the heater. It will not only eliminate condensate, but will also serve as a good soundproofing device.
  5. Top of the heater put finishing material, most often use plastic, but also demanded are stretch ceilings.

Warming the floor in the bathroom

After you have selected the suitable floor insulation, you can proceed with the work:

  1. Remove from the room everything that can be removed, the floor must be free.
  2. Remove old cover. By the way, the heater can be put on top of the tiles, but then the room will be smaller.
  3. Align the concrete base.
  4. Put the insulation.
  5. On top of the heater put a couple layers of vapor barrier material.
  6. Make a reinforced mesh screed. On the perimeter of the room to walk through the foam, so that the screed does not touch directly to the walls. In this way, temperature and cracks can be avoided.
  7. After the screed has thoroughly dried, put a new base, for example, linoleum or tile.

If you insulate the floor in this way, then the bathroom will never be damp.

"Warm Floor" system

Most often the floor in the bathroom is tiled with ceramic tiles. And if in the summer it is comfortable to walk on it, then in the cold time of the city it is better to take care of the warmth for the feet. To do this, they came up with the "Warm Floor" system. It consists of heating mats. They are sold in different sizes. In addition to the electric version of floor heating, there is still heating with hot water. This option is cheaper, but not always available due to the fact that the quality of cleaning in the water supply system is low. Therefore, most often they resort to an electric warm floor in the bathroom.

The electric floor is not an independent heating system, but only an annex to the central heating system.

To conduct a warm floor in the bathroom, it is necessary to perform several stages:

  1. It is necessary to prepare a solid base, it must be dry. The old floor in the room may come up, if it is uneven or damaged, then you need to re-lay the cement screed.
  2. Fasten the electric mats on the base.
  3. Each mat has two 4-meter-long wires, they are connected to an electrical network with a voltage of 220 V. This should be remembered by laying mats on the floor.
  4. Top linoleum.

The system can be programmed to any temperature, and it can work at intervals.

Advantages of a warm floor are:

  • low installation costs;
  • independence from the operation of central heating;
  • long service life;
  • small increase in the thickness of the floor in contrast to the water heating system.

All work on floor insulation is simple, they can be carried out independently and, thus, save on construction work. And, most importantly, to be sure that the work is done qualitatively and now it will be warm in the bathroom.
