How to make holes in a ceramic tile photo

To perform some repair work, for example, to install attachments on the walls of ceramic tiles, in the tile itself you need to make holes. When using a drill with a conventional drill, the surface of the tile easily breaks.

To make holes in the ceramic tile you need:

- electric drill;
- diamond drill bit;
- balerinka;
- hacksaw with tungsten cloth;
- circular drill bit for ceramics;
- abrasive bar;
- compasses and pencil.

Mark on the tile enamel the center of the future hole. To ensure that the drill does not slip on the tile, glue a paint tape over the intended hole or make a small groove in the tile with a drill with a sharp spear-shaped tip. Press the right hand drill with the drill-spear inserted to the target point. Do not make great efforts, otherwise the tile can be split already at this stage. Turn the left side of the drill bit a little.

Draw a circle of the diameter you need on the surface of the tile using a pencil and a circular. In one of the following ways, make a hole in the tile. At the same time, drill the tile at a right angle only from the front side.

Install a ring drill of the correct diameter or ballerinas into the drill. Select the diameter of the hole with the help of the baler's cutter adjustments. Drill a hole. Please note that with this method the tile is very hot and may crack. To cool the surface of the tiles during drilling, wet it with water. Using water will also help extend the life of the cutting tools. It is not recommended to place water near the power tool.

Method 2

Drill an electric drill hole with a diameter of 12 mm. Use a diamond drill bit. Insert the tungsten hacksaw blade into the drilled hole and secure its ends in the hacksaw. Drill a hole of the desired diameter, directing the hacksaw strictly along the drawn line.

Remove any scotch from the tile and wipe it with a rag. If necessary, to make the edges of the hole a smooth surface, treat them with an abrasive bar.

Useful advices

Do not use a high-speed drill for drilling. This increases the probability of splitting the tiles.

To hold a separate loose tile, make a plywood box that is slightly larger than the tile size, insulate the corners in the box and fill it with water. Before drilling a hole, drown the tile in the water.
