Roofing the house - how to install a flexible tile yourself, video

Work with flexible tiles is preferable to that with metal tile. However, you need to take into account that the time will need a little more.

The first stage of this work is the installation of rafters. You can directly mount the base under them under the shingles. However, if you use the OSB plate as the base, then you need to take a sufficiently large thickness( about 18 mm), and they are quite expensive. You can make the base of edging or sheet piling. The second, by the way, will cost twice as much. But this recommendation of the producers of roof tiles.

There are several points here.

  • First, the boards do not have exactly the same thickness and width, so you have to carefully select them.
  • Secondly, it is necessary also to dry properly. And this all takes quite some time.

Laying flexible shingles

In practice, the crate is made from edging boards( 100 × 25 mm) first. For it is not so important and the exact coincidence of their sizes. The boards of the crate are installed at a distance that is chosen arbitrarily, based on the configuration of the roof, the height of the attic and a number of other parameters. However, it is recommended that the boards are not more than 30 cm apart from each other.

OSB slabs are laid on the crate. Suitable thickness of 9 mm. Given the low cost of plates of this thickness and boards for the crate, this method is more economical. Instead of OSB boards, someone suggests using plywood. But you need to consider that it is more prone to moisture.

The next stage of work is the arrangement of ventilation. Such a system can be of different design, so before starting work this issue should be studied separately. Here a lot depends on whether there is an attic or not. Further, the roof marking is done. It is necessary for orientation when laying the lining and shingles. For this, both horizontal and vertical lines are drawn along the entire surface of the roof.

The lining is then assembled. It covers the entire surface on which the tile will be mounted. Laying is parallel to the edge of the roof and is made in the direction from the bottom up. Lining is necessary in order to provide a good additional waterproofing of the entire roof. The horizontal stripes of the liner must be stacked on top of each other with some overlap. The upper strip falls on the bottom with an overlap of 10 cm. This is necessary to prevent moisture from getting under the lining. It is fixed to the crate with the help of roofing nails.

After the completion of this part of the work begins the installation of the planks - pediments and cornices. These bars will protect the edges of the crate. They are also installed overlapping and fastened with nails
.

Installation of the tile directly follows the same system as the lining - from the bottom up, starting from the edge of the eaves. Cornice tiles are laid tightly, butt-end, and fixed by four nails. On top of it are glued tiles of ordinary tiles. This makes the overlap on each other( about 1 cm).The ordinary tiles should lie down so as to completely cover all joints between the cornices. Before gluing the tiles from the back of the tile, it is necessary to remove the protective film layer.

During operation, you will have to make connections to the vertical elements of the building structure( for example, the chimney pipe). To do this, first fit the bar, on top - the lining( on the adhesive mastic). After this, the ordinary tiles are laid with the "plant" edges on a vertical surface. Fastening - also mastic. At the top of the abutments is an "apron" made of metal and fastened with silicone sealant.

It must be remembered that before use, all building materials made of wood must be treated with special solutions that protect the wood from mold and rotting, pest damage and burning.
