Artificial floor heating is not the main way of heating rooms. But for the creation of really comfortable conditions, especially in families with young children, the installation of such a system is more than advisable. Despite the apparent complexity of the design, all work on the installation of the mixing unit for the warm floor can be done by yourself, if you know some features of the layout of the circuit. This and helps to understand this article.

Assignment of the mixing unit

If a separate heat generator is installed to ensure its operation, then there is no need for such a node, since the individual heat source can be adjusted to any desired temperature. However, this option is more suitable for a private home, where a mixing unit may be needed, especially on the ground floors, where the batteries heat up more.

The heat carrier from the boiler outlet to the heating system, as a rule, has a temperature of about +95 ºС.During the movement of water through the pipes, its value gradually decreases, but, nevertheless, it reaches the radiators at about 60 - 65 ° C.Therefore, all heating batteries belong to the class of high-temperature devices. This is easy to verify, even just touching the radiator lightly in a well-heated structure.

With the system of water-heated floor is somewhat different. This is an engineering design that is low-temperature, as excessive heating of its pipes will not only lead to deformation of the finish coat, but also to the inconvenience of moving around the room, and even obvious discomfort. Hardly anyone will like to walk on the hot floor( stand or sit on it).Consequently, in the pipes that are laid beneath it, water must come with a different, lower temperature. Normally, the surface should be heated to the level of +( 30 - 35) ºС, not more. And even then, not everyone likes it.

Depending on the layout of the pipes, the thickness of the screed, the type of the finish coat, the water temperature at the entrance to the system is chosen within 40 - 55 ºС.This means that the coolant coming from the boiler must first be cooled. It is for this task that the mixing unit is designed.

pump It is responsible for the forced movement of the heat transfer medium in the pipes of the warm floor and the mixing of hot and cold water at the time of the shut-off valve operation. The approximate cost is about 2 390 rubles.




Collector unit

The price of the finished product - from 15 850 rubles. It is a ready-to-install kit, on which all the necessary devices are mounted.

It can also be made from the trimming of a pipe, which is "ducked" from one end. For the circulation of the heat-transfer medium, several bends are welded to the pipe( in pairs per system) according to the comb principle. But the collector unit is easier to buy, since it is quite difficult to install the bends independently, to install the elements of the stop valves.

Its price is relatively low. For example, a collector for 2 separate heating circuits( in the figure - 6) costs about 4 980 rubles.

Thermostatic valve( 2 or 3-way valve)

Its task is to ensure the supply of hot water when cooling the coolant in the floor heating system to the set temperature( for its "admixture").

Balancing valve

It is designed for bleeding the excess coolant into the return flow when the nominal pressure in the underfloor heating pipe is exceeded.

In addition, a filter can be installed, showing the temperature of the instruments and so on. One possible scheme is shown in the figure:

The principle of operation of the mixing unit

The above diagram clearly explains. But this is only one of the options, since the submerges are carried out in different ways. The choice of a specific scheme depends on the area of ​​the room in which the heating system is mounted.

For a private house the scheme with a two-way valve is used, as it provides an efficient work of the circuit in areas up to 180 - 200 m².

Hot water from the boiler outlet comes to both the heating radiators and to the manifold of the mixing unit and is constantly "on duty" there until the valve flap is closed. Once the water in the circuit has cooled below the set limit, the shut-off valve is triggered and some of the heating medium from the heating system enters the floor heating pipe and the excess liquid is removed to the return flow.

Thus, in the process of work, uniform heating of the contour is constantly ensured.

Installation location

It is mounted where it is more convenient:

  • In a room with a circuit, a warm floor.
  • In the house boiler room.

Assembly features

  • The plastic floor heating system uses plastic, relatively soft pipes( overview of all versions of pipes for the warm floor).This is mainly due to the limiting radius of their bending, which is much smaller than that of metal products. But the collector of the SS in the place of installation is fixed necessarily rigidly.
  • The admixture valve is always positioned at the inlet to the circuit.
  • All electrical devices( eg pump) are connected to the ground loop.
  • The specificity of the installation is determined by the scheme of the heating system in the dwelling. The possible connections for the mixing unit are shown in the figures.

  • The final step is the adjustment of the automation elements to the required system characteristics( temperature of the valve, maximum pressure in the pipe, and so on).It is produced individually for each circuit, and this question requires a separate, detailed consideration.

When adjusting the heating circuits on large areas - their nuances. For example, not a 2-way valve is used, but a three-way valve + additional automation elements.
