- The very first layer applied to plasterboard should not exceed5 millimeters.
Warning! If you ignore the above rule, then the putty layer can not completely dry out, which leads, in the end, to the appearance of cracks!
- The first layer does not have to be made perfectly smooth, since there will be several layers further that will correct small irregularities. This will save time, as well as a certain amount of dry putty mix.
Please note that the first applied layer of the putty mixture must dry for at least 12 hours!
- When the specified time has elapsed, it is necessary to sand the ceiling with sandpaper. It is recommended to use a material with grain size P100-P150 .
- The finishing coat of the putty must be applied with the final mix. After it has dried, the surface is polished to a perfectly smooth state. To do this, you can use a special vibro-grinding machine or an abrasive mesh.
Tools and materials required for work
In order for the plasterboard ceilings to be laid without delay, care should be taken to ensure that all necessary building materials and tools are at hand. So, for work you will need:
- A pair of spatulas. One narrow and one with a wide working part.
- Priming and finishing putty. By the way, often for work use products of companies such as Knauf and EuroGips .
- Primer.
- Roller. It is desirable that he was on a telescopic handle.
- Wide brush.
- Capacities for priming, as well as for starting and finishing putty.
- Sandpaper or abrasive mesh.
- A mesh harness that will be used to seal seams.
- Screwdriver or screwdriver with a figured tip.

Once the primer has dried, and this occurs after about 60 minutes, you can start applying the starting layer of the putty. The starting layer should not exceed 1 centimeter by technology. In order to bring the dry mixture to the desired consistency, it is necessary in it to gradually pour in water and stir. For this, a drill with a special mixer can be used. Ready-made mass should resemble thick sour cream.
It should be noted that the complete drying of the starting layer takes 3-4 hours provided that the room has a good ventilation system , and the temperature in it does not fall below 15 degrees. If these conditions are not met, then the application of the first finish layer should be started only the next day after the start of the start.
Attention! If you do not want putty on the plasterboard ceiling, do not violate the above condition in any case!
After the finish putty is applied in two layers and dried, you can safely proceed to thoroughly polish the surface. For the speed of the process, you can use a grinder. If there is none, then an abrasive mesh with fine grain is quite suitable.
When the ceiling surface is perfectly smooth, you can gently proceed to the primer, and when it has dried - to further decorating the ceiling. This can be a banal painting, and gluing the surface with ceiling tiles, which will give the room an unrivaled and unique look.
