Lubricants are divided into types:

• for liquid lubricating oils, which are cleaned petroleum oils with additives used to lubricate high-speed, light-loaded units;
• for plastic or grease lubricants made from synthetic or petroleum oils with various additives and thickeners.

The main characteristic of the lubricant is determined by its viscosity, acid number, melting temperature.
Characteristics of oils used by tool manufacturers are often kept secret. This is done to ensure that the user who bought an instrument from a particular firm did not rack his brains, but bought the lubricant recommended by the tool manufacturer.

It is recommended to use plastic lubricants intended for heavy-duty bearings in rotary hammers, which operate under conditions of frequent reversals, at low speeds. In addition, plastic lubricants in the perforator also serve as a sealant and a preservative.

Knowing the requirements and operating conditions of individual punch units, you can choose the lubricant from the group of domestic lubricants.
Lubricants such as Litol-24, CIATIM-203, CIATIM-221F have similar characteristics from domestic lubricants.

What kind of lubricant is used in the Hitachi DH24PC3 rotary hammer

Hitachi DH24PC3 rotary hammers use three types of greases: for bearings and gears, for rubber sealing rings, for shanks of drills.

Any lubricant must meet certain requirements:

• required viscosity;
• melting point or ignition temperature;
• ultimate shear strength;
• dropping point.

Hitachi perforators use bearings that do not require additional lubrication. But when mounting the bearing, lubricate its socket and the outer diameter of the casing is necessary.
The Hitachi DH24PC3 rotary hammer uses the following bearings:

• bearing 37 mm, article 6904DD, dimensions 20x37x9, Russian equivalent 1000904, pos.15;
• bearing 19 mm, article 626VVM, dimensions 6x19x6, the Russian analogue 26, pos.56;
• bearing 22 mm, article 608DDM, dimensions 8x22x7, Russian equivalent 80018, item 60;
• bearing 22 mm, article 608VVM, dimensions 8x22x7, the Russian analogue 60018, pos.66.

The new grease is applied to a cleanly washed surface of parts or assembly.
The lubrication of the disassembled perforator has a dark, dirty color. This color is obtained due to the wear of metal parts and rubber sealing rings.

Before assembly, all parts are thoroughly washed in kerosene or gasoline and dried.

Do not allow solvents to enter rubber products.

Always replace the grease.

Lubrication of bearings and gearboxes

As a rule, rotary hammers use bearings filled with the right lubricant. However, when assembling bearings, it is necessary to lubricate the sockets for better pressing.
Bearing 6904DD pos.15 is installed in the body pos. 10, in which the barrel poses 24.The bearing is affected by shock loads.

The injection fitting of the barrel is preferable to grease with special grease from Hitachi. But the lubricants of domestic producers give no less good results. The photo shows a lubricant produced by Russian manufacturers especially for the lubrication of reducers.

Lubrication of rubber sealing rings

Rubber O-rings are subjected to extreme heating due to friction and air pressure in the piston. If the O-rings do not lubricate, the friction increases, which leads to even more heating. When installing new O-rings, be sure to lubricate the installation site. It is recommended to use a lubricant from Hitachi.

But if you lubricate the rubber sealing rings with a domestic lubricant, whose dropping point exceeds + 100º, the result will be good enough. The main thing is to use a lubricant that has not only high lubricating properties, but also has sealing properties.
It is best to use the domestic lubricant Litol 24.

There are two warnings:
- if your tool is under warranty, and you decide to perform maintenance yourself, it is recommended that you use the lubricants that the manufacturer insists on applying;
- lubricants of domestic manufacturers retain their properties for a shorter time and require more frequent replacement.

Lubricants for drill shanks

The Hitachi DH24PC3 perforators are equipped with SDS-plus quick-action clamping chucks. The design of the cartridge provides for the use of a working tool with a special shank. The reliability of the gripping of the working tool is ensured by the special design of the shank. But in fact in the process of work requires a periodic change of tools.
Special lubricants are used for easier disconnection of the working tool from the quick-action chuck.

Lubricants of domestic manufacturers

A few words about Russian lubricants.
Litol-24 is manufactured according to GOST 21150-87 on the basis of a mixture of mineral oils and lithium soap. Anti-acid and adhesion additives are added to the mixture.
Lithol-24 is recommended for use in friction units, rolling and sliding bearings, gear drives where the operating temperature does not exceed + 120 ° C.
Lubricant Tsiatim-203 is manufactured according to GOST 8773-73 from petroleum transformer oil with the addition of lithium soap and aspidol and additives as a thickener to increase the viscosity and reinforce the anti-cartridges. It is recommended for lubrication of drill shanks in SDS quick-action chuck.
Lubricant Tsiatim-224 is produced in accordance with GOST 9433-80, it is a heat-resistant silicone fluid, as soap is added soap with an anti-acid additive. Lubrication is inert to rubber and is recommended for lubrication of O-rings.
