When mentioning the repair of the apartment flight of your thoughtsis limited to the picture of demolition of partitions and replacement of windows? No problem. Today, you will be able to get a brief combat plan under the name " Stages of repairing an apartment purchased on the secondary housing market ".Now you definitely will not be tormented by the question of how to start repairing an apartment with your own hands, and with the help of professionals. With the first option you will help our site, dedicated to self-repair apartment. So, let's get started.
How to start the first stage of apartment repair - ceiling
Repair of the ceiling is the most urgent topic for many tenants who purchased an apartment in the secondary market. After all, most new owners have to deal with a whole series of "ceiling problems" every day, starting with crumbling plaster and ending with cracks in the ceiling.
How to start repairing the ceiling? Performed for the same simple scheme, as repairing walls and floors, - dismantling, leveling, painting / whitewashing.
As a rule, water-dispersed paint is most often used for the coloring of ceiling coverings, in older houses there is also lime whitewash, more rarely - oil or alkyd enamel. Surely you are tormented by the question, how do you wash away this "beauty"?
Remember: lime whitewash can be washed off with water. The work is very painstaking, but on the quality of performance depends on how well the new coating will lie. If the former owners tried with all their heart and put several layers of whitewash, then you have to arm yourself with a steel spatula and a basin of water. In principle, the same tools will be needed for the operation, code-named "Removal of oil / alkyd enamel or water-dispersed paint."
The next stage in the course of the preparatory work is the leveling of the ceiling. On how accurately and accurately you perform this operation, the appearance of the ceiling and its reliability in the future depends. If you want to make a modern, beautiful ceiling, then see the article on the ceiling of gypsum plasterboard with your own hands - detailed instructions for installation with photos and video materials. Now we will continue to answer the question of where to start and how to finish the work.
First of all, it is necessary to determine the ceiling level difference to know how thick a layer needs to be applied. If the deviation is less than 50 mm, then your reliable assistants will be a primer and putty. If there are cracks on the surface of the ceiling, they must first be expanded with a spatula, and then cleaned and primed.
Remember: on how well the primer is made, the strength and longevity of the ceiling depends. The deeper the primer soaks, the better. Similarly and with putty. On how well the putty works, it depends how smooth the ceiling will be.
The main function entrusted to the primer is impregnation of the concrete surface in order to ensure a reliable and strong adhesion of the entire surface and the layers deposited on it. Accordingly, putty is responsible for leveling the surface and eliminating small defects.
The final chord in the galaxy "where to start repairing the ceiling coating," is directly whitewashing and painting the ceiling. Acrylic, latex, silicate, silicone paints and which paint is best to choose. Even this does not end with a list of products in the building store, which will help you draw a final line under the repair and overhead work. See which paint to choose for the ceiling, depending on the needs.
Repair of ceilings is a rather difficult and time-consuming exercise, requiring patience and meticulousness. Only with the right approach can you achieve the desired result - a snow-white, smooth and strong ceiling, which will please you for a long time. However, the burden of caring for the repair of the ceiling can be shifted to the shoulders of professionals from construction companies. If you have noisy neighbors from above, then you need sound insulation of the ceiling in the apartment, you can do it by yourself.
