Gypsum mixtures
Gypsum dry putty is one of the most common types of material. The basis for them are gypsum and chalk. They were widely spread due to their low price, strength, and resistance to moisture. The disadvantage of gypsum putties is their suitability for use in just 30-50 minutes. After that they start to harden sharply. It is also necessary to accurately calculate the required amount of the mixture, so that the excess does not have to be thrown away. However, this quality is appreciated by experienced craftsmen, who need to make two layers of putty on a small area. Working with such a mixture, the main thing is not to miss the moment of solidification, otherwise the bucket will be very difficult to wash afterwards. It should be remembered that it is possible to use gypsum mixture only indoors, even with high humidity.
Adhesive and acrylic blends
Putties on an adhesive basis differ in their "tenacity", unlike gypsum ones. They are used for processing large volumes, in which only one layer is applied. Working with them is easy, because there is no need to knead every hour a new portion. It is also possible to wash the container from such a mixture a few hours after the completion of work. It is very easy to strip sandpaper with a layer of glutinous mortar, since the fraction is fine, not more than 0.3 millimeters. However, the price for them is higher than for gypsum mixtures. Also they are only finish and do not apply a thick layer. It can be used indoors, but not in wet rooms. Also it is not recommended to apply for painting.

Acrylic putty - this is the final mix, which is sold in ready-made form. They are applied in a thickness of one millimeter on the surface pre-ground with the other mixture. They are used for interior work in dry rooms.
What kind of filler to choose for all types of work
When making a choice of putty, you can not stop on the cement mix. These putties are mainly used for outdoor applications. They are frost and moisture resistant. They are divided into two groups:
- With sand;
- Without sand.
The first group can be used for both outdoor and indoor applications, for example in wet rooms. Work with them is quite difficult, and the surface will not turn out to be perfectly smooth. They have a white color, since white cement is included in the composition. The second group is used for facade works. They can also be used in damp areas. Their color is gray because of the color of the cement. Sometimes the second group is used as a starting mixture for rough alignment.
