Overview of the window film market

There are several types of construction in the building market: decorative, sun protection, noise-absorbing, fire-resistant, vandal-proof, energy-saving and others. And very often they combine several properties. For example, a matte sticker weakens the effect of sunlight and at the same time prevents the penetration of a foreign view from the street.

Some of these species have a generalized name and, according to their purpose, can be divided into smaller groups. Thus, the form of "decorative vandal-proof film on windows" has such functions as anti-shock protective, protective against breaking, against splinters, firearms, listening, etc.

The main types of films for glass

The tint film for windows, or, as it is also called, sunscreen, delays 99% of the harmful ultraviolet spectrum of solar radiation, while preventing overheating of the room. Decorative film is glued on the inside and, in addition to supplementing the interior of the room, depending on the type selected, can carry out some protective functions: from bright sun rays, from debris, from street surveillance, etc.

The special film from the sun not only weakens the effect of sunlight, but additionally in the winter time it plays the role of energy-saving, as it prevents the heat loss of the building.

It should be noted that this part is not always glued on the inside of the window. So, depending on the method of production and the effectiveness of its characteristics, the matte sunscreen on the windows can be glued to the outside. If the film for windows is self-adhesive, then its installation is greatly facilitated. It is attached to the glass by a special layer, which should be activated. At manufacturing the surface of a film is covered by this glutinous structure and is closed by the liner.

How to properly glue the window film?

Pasting windows with special skills does not require a film and can be performed independently. To do this you need: a staple, window cleaner, a sharp knife and a hand spray. Installation of the film is made only on warm glass, so the air temperature should be at least 5 degrees Celsius. Do not do this on a hot day under the scorching rays of the sun, as the film, when heated, becomes elastic and can tear.

A thin layer of a mixture of water and liquid soap is sprayed onto the glass and the adhesive surface of the film. The latter will not let her immediately stick tight, and you can give the whole picture the right position. After applying the film on the glass, it is smoothed, with the help of a staple, bubbles are removed.

Somewhat differently, the windows are pasted with anti-vandal film. It is glued with a special composition prepared before the beginning of the work, which is applied to the sheet and dissolves the adhesive base on its surface. Glasses before installation are necessarily washed and dried - the moisture between the glass and the film should not be in any case!

Then apply the film and align it on the glass, staple removing air bubbles. The temperature regime is also important here - at least 5 degrees above zero Celsius. For complete drying, anti-vandal protection is required from 3 to 4 months, and mechanical effects during this period on the window should be minimal.
