Homemade bath mats made of river stones, most often have many drawbacks:
- stones are too smoothly polished, which makes the mat become damp and slippery when wet;
- for the rug used a hot glue, which is not able to withstand a long period of operation;
- has nowhere to drain excess water.
Do the rug according to our instructions, it has no data minuses.
Materials
You will need:
- Floor rubber mat - with holes or holes for water drain.
- Smooth stones from the beach - make sure they are porous, not slippery. The amount depends on the size of the rug. Stones can be found near the river, the sea or at the local "Skillful Hands" store.
- Waterproof silicone sealant - because you need something that can withstand water and delay it.
- Polyethylene protective film or old shower curtain.
There is a relief pattern on the front of the selected rug, so it is better to turn it over to work with a smooth side.
Step-by-step instruction
Work on a plastic protective film or an old shower curtain.
Procedure:
- Place your stones on the rug, make sure that they are enough. The work is very similar to folding puzzles, so be patient! Place the largest stones above the holes in the rug. Water will still be able to drain, but the holes will not be visible.
- Once you have arranged all the stones, go to one of the corners, take a pebble, squeeze a drop of silicone sealant onto the back of the stone and place it back on the rug.
- Press and hold it for a few seconds, and then repeat the same steps with the remaining stones.
- The sealant instructions say that it freezes after 3 hours, but it is better to wait 24 hours before moving the mat and starting to use it.
This is a great way to add to the design of your bathroom with nature. When you look at the rug you will remember your favorite trips to the beach!
