For any child, a swing is a lot of fun. So let's try to make a simple children's swing yourself, because it's quite easy, if you show a little effort and desire to please the children. Let's consider the most simple variant - a suspension swing on a crossbeam.
Materials for swing
For side supports you can take either wooden poles or thick-walled pipes. However, if it is not possible to use the welding machine, it is better to build a wooden structure. For a swing to stand longer, it is necessary to prepare the raw material. It should be well dried, and it is better to use a tree of coniferous species. But in any case, the blanks for the swings( poles) must be impregnated with special compounds that protect the wood from rotting and from damage by various insects.
Depending on the children of what age the swings will be designed, you can use either single pillars or triangles of two pillars and crossbeams between them as side supports. Such a "triangular" support will withstand a heavy load. The part of the pillars that will be buried in the ground should be treated with hot tar and overlaid with a roofing material - this will increase the service life of the supports.
Doing a swing
At the thinner ends of the pillars, you need to cut out small grooves where the pipe-crossbar will be laid. If the top is also planned to put the log as the upper beam, then the notch must be made to its diameter. Posts - support should be buried at least half a meter. Previously, in the pit, where the pillar is inserted, you need to fall asleep rubble, broken brick, and all this properly tamper. Top it is desirable to pour concrete solution. If "triangles" are used as lateral supports, they will stand more steadily, since they are not subject to longitudinal loading.
In the process of using the swing, these forces will be constantly influenced by the force directed downwards. Under its action, the hooks will try to "jump out" of the log. To prevent this from happening, they are fixed on the reverse side of the crossbar. As a fastener for the rope, special carbines are also used, in which rings are inserted. The rope is attached to these rings.
It is necessary to pay attention to the swing seat - it should not be too massive. Children very often do not ride themselves, but some swing, sometimes even just empty swings. A massive seat can seriously injure a child. That's why for the children's swing seats from the metal are not recommended.
If the swing is made of metal pipes, then as a "rope" you need to use a thick metal rod. In no case should you use a metal cable. In the event of a rip of even one string of cable, this protruding piece of thick metal wire can cause a serious lacerated wound. In case the swing is designed for simultaneous riding of two people, it is necessary to make the seat wider and take care of the additional fastening of the side supports.
