Condensate on the toilet bowl
  • Why is it formed?
  • How to get rid?
  • Replacement of the tank
  • Forced ventilation

As it is sad, but the bathroom often becomes a source of household problems. Clogs in pipes, floods, unpleasant smells, insects - all these troubles are usually associated with any malfunctions in the functioning of the bathroom. One of the most common such problems is the condensate formed on the walls of the toilet tank. This seemingly minor trouble, if not found and solved in time, can lead to quite serious consequences - from the appearance of mold on the walls and ending with a spoiled repair of neighbors.

Finding condensation on the toilet bowl, many do not pay attention to it, confining themselves to only "symptomatic" means of struggle - leave a floor for collecting liquid or a floor cloth. This behavior is wrong, because the appearance of condensate is a signal that things are not right with the work of ventilation systems, water supply or sewerage. Therefore, if suddenly detected droplets of water on different surfaces of the bathroom do not disappear after a few days, a thorough inspection of the state of the engineering systems in the room should be made.

Why is it formed?

In fact, there can be several causes of condensation, and the first time to determine the correct one is not always possible. The most common factors are:

  • Temperature difference. As a rule, the air temperature in the bathroom is higher than the surface temperature of the tank, since the latter is constantly filled with cold water. In the bathroom it is often installed additional heat sources, for example, heated towel rails and warm floors, which makes the difference in temperature even more. Especially good it is felt in the cold season.
  • Malfunction in the drain mechanism. Condensation often occurs when the drain tank is constantly leaking, which is known to occur most often when a float valve breaks down. If so, the problem is easily solved by purchasing a new valve.
  • No ventilation. Well-functioning ventilation system is the main condition for maintaining the optimum humidity level in the room. If the bathroom is poorly ventilated, there are numerous problems, including condensate on the drain tank.

How to get rid?

  • If the cause of condensate formation lies in the malfunction of the tank, replace the defective part, or, if this is not possible, purchase a new drain valve.
  • If you managed to find out that the matter is still in the temperature difference, you can resort to a very simple, but not very economical solution - to ensure the supply of warm water to the toilet. The main thing is that the water is not hot, otherwise all the drain valves will become unusable.
  • As a temporary measure, you can use the heating shutdown. For the summer period, when the apartment is already warm, it can be a good way out of the situation. But with the onset of cold weather, we will have to look for a new, more thorough solution.
  • Such a solution can be the minimization of cold water consumption. To implement this idea, you need to purchase a special drain button for the toilet - which drains only half of the usual amount of water. In the tank all the time there will be only a few liters of water, which will have time to warm up. This solution, in spite of some inconvenience, will help you to reduce the cost of paying water for the meters.
  • Another unique solution is the organization of the thermal insulation of the waste tank with the help of foam. It does not look very aesthetic, but it helps to say goodbye to condensate forever.

Replacing the tank

It happens that the condensate on the walls of the tank is formed due to the fact that the drainage mechanism is faulty, however, replacing individual parts does not solve the problem. In this case, it is advisable to replace the tank itself. We give a brief instruction on how to make a replacement.

  • For work you will need a new tank, a new drain valve, a set of fasteners, a sealant on a silicone base.
  • To begin with, you must dismantle the old equipment, having previously disconnected it from the water supply system. To remove the tank, you need to unscrew the valves, which it is attached to the bowl of the toilet.
  • Before installing the new reservoir, you must assemble the drain valve and install it inside the product. Here the sequence of steps depends on the type of construction, so try to follow exactly the instructions attached to the tank.
  • The toilet bowl on which the tank is installed should be cleaned of dirt. It is desirable to replace the rubber gasket, which is laid between the shelf and the drain tank.
  • Then the tank is put on the shelf and from the bottom it is fixed with two bolts, under which it is necessary to put the gaskets. Tighten the bolts should not be very tight, enough two or three turns.
  • Then the tank is connected to the water supply system using a flexible hose that connects to the float valve. Then let the water run and check how the water level is set. If necessary, adjust the level.
  • At the final stage, the design is checked for leaks, making several test flushes. After that, fix the lid of the tank and connect the drain button.

Forced ventilation

If condensation forms in a poorly ventilated room, consider organizing forced ventilation. This is called ventilation, which is carried out mechanically - with the help of a fan. Mechanical ventilation is considered mandatory in a combined bathroom, since in it the percentage of humidity is much higher.

In order to ensure normal humidity in a standard sized bathroom, one fan is sufficient. The power of the ventilation system is calculated based on the number of plumbing devices installed in the room. But, even in the bathroom, where there is simultaneously a toilet, a bath, a sink, a shower and a bidet, a fan with a capacity of 110 cubic meters per hour is enough.
