12 As a matter of fact, road plates are an alternative to such kinds of a covering, as asphalt or a tile. They are designed for laying on large areas, which will be subjected to significant loads. Do not confuse them with paving slabs, some of which, although they differ in size( up to 6 x 2 m), but clearly inferior to road in the ultimate load, since they are not designed for the weight of heavy equipment.

The latter can withstand weight from 10 tons or more( usually up to 30) and found application not only in industrial construction( motorways, access roads to objects, airfields and the like). There is also a demand for them from "private traders" who use them for arranging offshoots from roads leading to suburban areas, parking of personal vehicles and a variety of sites where the load on the base is of great importance, as well as, for example, shores of reservoirs.

The popularity of such slabs is explained not only by good performance characteristics, but also by the convenience of laying, the maintainability of the coating. All characteristics of road plates, including linear dimensions, are regulated by GOST No. 21924.0 of 1984.

The dimensions specified in the Standard are expressed in "mm".Since the assortment is quite significant, we give only the limiting values of the dimensions. It should be taken into account that not all manufacturers adhere to them, since each of them has the right to develop their technical conditions for products that do not go against the requirements of GOST.Therefore, when buying plates specific numerical values need to be specified at the point of sale.

  • Length - from 1 750 to 6 000.
  • Width - from 1 000 to 3 750.
  • Thickness - from 140 to 195.

The specificity of the production of road plates determines the appropriateness of using one type or another for specific purposes. Therefore, information on only their size will clearly not be enough. What else do you need to know?

Plates are divided into "strenuous" and "non-tensioning reinforcement".Their operation is possible in a temperature mode up to -40 0С( naturally, with observance of the laying technology).

They are indicated by the abbreviation PD( slab road) and PA( aerodrome). All other numbers and letters are interpreted as follows:

  • H - tense.
  • D - corrugated.
  • P - for coating.

The digit in the first position characterizes the type of the road plate: 1П - for permanent objects, 2П - for temporary laying.

The first two numbers behind the letter symbols denote linear dimensions in "dm"( length and width). The third is the maximum load( in tons).

According to the form and execution of

plate The first position in the designation:

  • P is a rectangular pattern.

Other positions:

  • D - half( diagonal axial) products of hexagonal configuration.
  • P is the axial transverse half of the sample.
  • B - with 1 combined side.
  • BB - with two.
  • Ш - hexagonal. T - trapezoidal.

It remains to add that the road plates can have either metal staples or special holes( lugs) for gripping the lifting mechanism.
