Working with an electric drill Photo We choose tools for apartment repair. Use of electric drill

The purpose of this tool is to drill holes in wood and metal. The electric drill consists of an electric motor connected to the spindle of the drill chuck through a series of fastenings. See how to choose a drill for the home correctly. In most cases, spiral drills are used for drilling. The drill must penetrate deep into the material gradually, without jerking or jerking. If necessary, make a through hole, the pressure should be reduced as the drill moves.

At the bottom of the spoon drill is a longitudinal groove with an acute edge and a pulling drill, giving it a centering direction, with a helical sting. In the process of working, the chips are not removed, so you have to periodically take the drill out of the hole. With this drill it is quite difficult to make an exact hole. When drilling, you can not press the drill very much, as the tree can crack. For this reason, the drill bits are only suitable for not requiring great precision work, for example for drilling holes for screws.

How to work with the drill

The center drill, in comparison with the spoon, has better characteristics. Its cutting part is a blade having a sharp end( center), a side cutter( road worker) and a radially flat knife. The drill is centered by the point. It operates as follows: the wood cut off by the lateral cutter is removed in the form of a spiral ribbon with a flat knife. If necessary, drilling hardwood will require considerable physical effort.

The most convenient are spiral, helical, cylindrical drills. A screw cone having a conical shape facilitates easy entry of the drill into the tree. Sharp cutters( road workers), cutting the wood along the circumference, are the end of the side helical ribbons. Cut wood is removed with a flat knife and spirals up. The diameter of the drilled hole is determined by the road builders. For finishing, cutters with a fine notch are best suited.

Drills with large notches are necessary for working with soft wood. It is much easier to work with a spiral drill than with all others. In some cases, when drilling, the wood splits at the exit point of the drill, and the hole itself becomes chamfered. To avoid such troubles, it is necessary to observe the following rules:

the workpiece to be drilled must be securely fixed;

centers of future holes should be marked with a pencil or an awl;

, the accuracy of the drill direction must be checked twice: before drilling starts and when the drill comes to a shallow depth;

when drilling deep holes the direction of the drill can be checked by eye, following the line drawn in advance with a pencil.

To drill blind holes, use a limiter, in the role of which stands a wooden bar. It is placed on the side of the drill and drilled until the limiter contacts the clamping chuck. Before starting work, a drill with a larger diameter is drilled with a bar, obtaining a tool to observe the drilling angle. It is possible to make several holes at different angles, which will later become the standard. Next to each of them make the necessary note to obtain a universal template.

Often, tree flicks are observed at the exit of the drill. To prevent this, you should closely monitor the exit of the stinger outwards. As soon as it appears, you need to turn the part and finish the drilling. In general, drilling in one direction is possible, but in this case a small block of wood should be placed under the bottom of the processed object.

Sometimes it becomes necessary to expand the already drilled hole. To this end, a wooden stopper is placed in the hole and a drill is screwed into its middle. In this case, the plug acts as a centering member, guiding the drill along the axis of the smaller hole. You can use a drill bit and as an auxiliary tool for gouging the nests. To do this, you need a drill with a diameter equal to the width of the future hole. At the required depth, a row of nests are drilled, and then the remaining bridges are removed by a chisel.

During storage, to avoid damage to the drill head, a screw or wooden plug of the correct size should be screwed onto the stinger. Do not forget - safety works first!
