Usually all the furniture in the bathroom corresponds to the style of the interior and various elements and modules harmoniously complement each other. Although it is possible and independently create harmony from individual modules, shelves, chests of drawers, cabinets floor or hanging. Therefore, the countertop under the sink for the bathroom should also be combined with all the furniture.

There is a huge variety of countertops:

  • angled,
  • asymmetric,
  • combined.

You can choose the model you need, depending on your preferences in design and price policy.

So, all table tops can be conditionally divided into:

  • budget models,
  • products, custom-made,
  • premium designer piece designs.

The width and height of the countertop is determined by the buyer, who makes their choice based on the measurements of the bathroom and the growth of family members.

The sinks that are installed on the countertop are also pleasing with a wide variety of shapes: symmetrical or asymmetric, right or left, single or double. The worktop can be presented in the interior as an addition to the pedestal or an independent element, which is mounted on long legs or fixed with brackets.

The sink can be placed on the countertop or built into it. Depending on the type of shell, the design of the cabinet changes, on which the table top is attached.

Methods and order of installation

Several ways to set up worktops can be distinguished:

  1. With the help of brackets, the whole worktop is fastened, as it is characterized by a large weight.
  2. Attach the table top already to the finished cabinet.
  3. The installation method allows you to create a secure mount. A frame-installation is installed in the wall, and then plumbing is already clinging to it. After that, the wall is decorated with a lining.

The installation of the table top depends on its type: floor and wall. The floor installation is light enough, it's only necessary to adjust the length of the legs using the level.

Wall mounting of the table top will take longer and will require additional tools. But this does not interfere with making the worktops themselves, if there is such a desire. Also, you can use the help of a specialist who, in a short time, will make a reliable installation of the countertop in the bathroom.

Variety of forms and design solutions

For convenient operation of countertops in the bathroom, you should pay attention to the basis of the table top, because it is made in two versions - floor and wall. The shape of the base affects the functionality of the entire table top.

Floor and wall base under the table top has one function and differs only in the way of fastening. The length of the table top depends on the tastes and imagination of the customer. In some bathrooms, countertops can be made almost along the entire perimeter of the room or successfully fit them into niches, maximizing the use of free space.

Wall-mounted countertops

Also it is necessary to select one more group of table-tops - decorative. They do not have any lockers or pedestals. They are presented in the floor and wall model. For the floortop, special long legs are used, and for the wall products - special brackets. Decorative countertops

Table top made of plasterboard with own hands

Using gipsokartonnye plates you can make a beautiful and original countertop, which will become an original decoration of any bathroom. Its main feature is that the material should not be modified under the influence of moisture. Use a solution on an epoxy basis to reliably protect the product from excessive moisture. Also very popular is the moisture resistant gypsum board, which is designed specifically for this purpose. If this type of drywall is used, no additional processing is necessary.

To create a countertop for the bathroom, you should purchase materials such as:

  • sheets of drywall( preferably moisture resistant);
  • profiles for creating the basis of the countertop;
  • plywood;
  • waterproofing putty;
  • protective solution against moisture;
  • brushes to apply a solution to protect from moisture;
  • fret saw;
  • brackets;
  • epoxy adhesive.
Making the base under the countertop

When all of the above materials are at hand, you can go to the very technology of creating a table top.

  • First you need to measure the space where you plan to install the table top. Using these dimensions, we determine the height and width of the future product. Let's move on to creating a frame made of metal or wooden slats. The main feature of the frame is strength and reliability, so that the structure is stable.
  • To create a plan for the future of the product, plywood is taken, which is resistant to moisture and it draws a contour where the sink will be. With the help of a jig saw it is necessary to make a hole along the contour. When the plywood sheet is ready, we proceed to create two forms of plasterboard sheets, and one of them must also have a hole under the sink.
  • Attach the two brackets to the wall, and install a cut sheet of plywood on them. Then we attach a sheet of plasterboard with a hole. Another sheet of drywall, which does not have a cutout, is attached from below.
  • When the gypsum boards are securely fixed, then a concave end should be created. In order to make it, you need a strip of drywall. It cuts through one centimeter. Then this piece is attached to the inner end of the tabletop.
  • When the countertop is ready, it should be covered with a special mixture that has a waterproofing function. For reliability, perform this procedure twice. Then wait for the product to dry and you can go to the last stage - decorating the countertop.
  • The last step is to install the sink in the countertop. To ensure that the shell of the bull is securely fixed, it should be installed on special legs or attached to the wall with a special support. The presence of a support is necessary for countertops, which are quite high and reach more than one meter. To create a support can come up the middle tubes of metal.

To the concave end is not spoiled the increased humidity of the bathroom, it is necessary to cover it with a primer, and then still make the treatment with a moisture resistant filler.

If you use moisture-resistant drywall sheets to make the table top, you do not need to make additional surface treatment for moisture protection.
