Choosing a shower room

The design of the shower enclosure consists of walls, a pallet, a door and a curtain. Let's consider the whole process of installation.

First of all you need to choose a place for the booth. If the bathroom is large enough, you can place it in a corner or next to one of the walls. When choosing the angular arrangement, one partition will be erected;if along the wall, then two. However, if the area of the room is too small, then you can allocate space to one of the short walls. In this case, do not need to install partitions at all, but only the door or curtain is installed.

After determining the location for the shower, you can begin to build its walls. They are made mainly of bricks( it is placed on the edge, as there is no need for thick partitions) or from plasterboard, which is a pre-assembled frame.

Important! Drywall should be resistant to high humidity, typical of the bathroom.

Next, the leveling and initial finish of the walls are done on the inside. This work is carried out with the help of gypsum plaster. Water and sewage pipes can be piped before or after this stage. The drain is installed taking into account the fact that in the future the floor will rise.

Shower cabin with your own hands - how is it done?

The next stage is raising the floor. For reliable waterproofing it must be finished with a brick and pour a screed with a thickness of 2-3 centimeters. The waterproofing is laid in several layers. Also, it will not be superfluous for walls, especially if they are made of plasterboard. It should be remembered that not every waterproofing can be installed on gypsum plaster.

For wall and floor tiles, you must choose a slip resistant material. Mounted tiles with moisture resistant glue. Stitches between them are recommended to be covered with a mixture that has antifungal properties. After the tile has completely dried, you can start installing all the faucets, faucets and faucets. Door for a shower booth is best bought in a store, as they will cost inexpensively. Fasten them by turning the mechanism to the floor and the flow. Doors need to be adjusted so that they are tightly closed.

Important! It must be remembered that the pallet should be mounted under a slope towards the drain.

Which pallet is better?

We figured out how to make a shower with our own hands. Now consider two types of pallets and find out which one is best to choose. There are two types of pallet: with a slope towards the drain and straight. For the first option, the first thing to do is a groove in the floor. The tile is also laid with a slope towards the drain. This system prevents the formation of puddles and water stagnation. To perform this work, you will need to consult a specialist. Advantages of this pallet:

  • easy cleaning of the cabin;
  • you will not stumble;
  • the highest point will be at the floor level, and the lower one at the level of the drain.

The second option is a flat pallet with low sides. To mount it, the base is first mounted, as described above. This method is much simpler than the first and does not require deep knowledge and consultations with specialists. With this method you will have a pronounced shower zone. In addition, there is no need to line the floor for laying pipes, because they will fit freely under the pallet.

Important! Whichever version of the shower enclosure is chosen, it is necessary to perform a waterproofing of the pallet in a qualitative and reliable manner.
