6. Prepare concrete at the rate of 3 parts of sand per 1 part of cement. With the mixture obtained, pour the rubble into the formwork.
7. Thoroughly level the concrete layer and cover with polyethylene.
8. Leave the foundation in this condition until the concrete has dried.
9. In the meantime, prepare the bricks. The approximate size of bricks should be 250x120x60 mm. The joints between the brickwork should not exceed 0.5 cm. Bricks should have the same color and texture.
10. Before laying a bit, peel the bricks with sandpaper.
11. Then put them in water and leave for 5 minutes. Thus, the air from the brick will come out and it will not absorb moisture from the cement slurry.
12. Prepared brick leave for 2 days in a solution of clay.
13. So, before laying the fireplace with your own hands, on the frozen foundation lay two layers of roofing material. On top of it, lay bricks and fasten them together with cement mortar. Do this carefully, and try not to smear the bricks with mortar from the front.
14. First lay the metal rail, and on top of it a brick. At the same time, place the bottom row on the edge. Lightly tap every brick when laying.
15. Building level do not forget to measure the evenness of the masonry. You can follow the layout of the masonry shown in the figure below.
16. All angles must correspond to 90 degrees.
17. At this rate, continue to lay bricks.
18. When laying the smoke pipe, check the composition of the cement slurry, which should not contain fine debris.
19. All stacked rows must be clearly aligned with the existing drawing.
20. After you have erected 3 rows of bricks, fix the metal pins for the grate of the fireplace.
21. The walls of the smoke box and fuel compartment from inside the erected fireplace wipe and remove excess mortar from the walls.
22. Do not plaster the inside of the fireplace.
23. Install jumpers in the holes of the portal. The position of the pipe in the firebox should be vertical. And when laying pipes on the roof, use only a cement-sand mixture.
24. To prevent soot, sparks and smoke from entering the room, place a smoke chamber above the furnace level. And between it and the firebox place the cornice with a ledge.

The construction of a brick fireplace is a laborious and not an easy process, but the result of the work will certainly be happy. As the main source of fuel for the fireplace is better to use well-dried wood. Choose firewood from hardwoods that do not form a resin when burned. The oak or hornbeam slowly burns out, which keeps the heat longer. The most popular type of wood for the fireplace is birch, as it emits little tar and soot.
