Types of roofing materials photo Repair the roof of the house with your own hands. Types of roofing materials

At present, when choosing a roofing material, not only its reliability, strength and durability are taken into account. Preference is given to the material, which along with the listed qualities also has an aesthetic appearance. All roofing materials are divided into such types: silicate( cement-sand and clay tiles, asbestos-cement sheets), organic( tar, bituminous, wood, polymeric) and metal( sheet zinc-coated and galvanized steel). The most common types of roofing materials are polymer or bitumen based.

Metal roofing materials

Metal roofing for construction is used for a number of reasons. First, it is distinguished by its durability( its service life is about 20 years);Secondly, it does not require complicated maintenance( galvanized steel sheet does not need care);thirdly, it is the easiest( along with the crate no more than 15 kg per 1 m2), as a result of which it is possible to save saw-timbers due to the reduction in the size of the cross-section of the wooden elements of the roof frame.

In the modern market, the types of metal roofing materials, which include not only roofing iron, but also aluminum sheets, metal tile, copper tape, are quite widespread.

Roofing iron( sheet cold-rolled steel) can have a thickness of 0.35-5 mm, a width of 500-2300 mm, and the length in some cases allows the material to roll into rolls. Most often in roofing works use steel having a thickness of 0.35-0.8 mm. The sheet dimensions can be 710 x 1420 mm, 1000 x 2000 mm and 750 x 1500 mm.

Coiled steel is also convenient in operation, since there are fewer seams allowing seepage on the roof. However, in most cases, roofers use sheets having dimensions of 710 x 1420 mm. The material consumption is 5.1 kg of roofing steel per 1 m2 of roofing.

Together with black steel, a galvanized sheet is also produced, coated on both sides with a layer of zinc, having a thickness of 0.02 mm.

To prevent corrosion, black steel must be coated with grease. Roof iron should only be stored in a dry room. At rather long storage, the sheets must be cleaned of grease and proolifit on both sides. The most reliable protection of the material is a coating of linseed oil paint.

For the purpose of fastening sheets use special roofing nails, equal in length to 45-50 mm and having a wide bonnet.

These types of roofing cover are sheets of aluminum or galvanized steel, stamped in the form of a tiled coating.

Our industry has not yet mastered the production of metal, but in the Russian market this material is found in Swedish, Finnish, English and German origin.

The sizes of the sheets vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. The facial coating of the metal tile can be made of colored polyester, linvinyl chloride, plastisol and a number of other polymeric materials, the thickness of which is 20-70 microns. As the thickness of the polymer layer increases, the strength of the material rises and, accordingly, its service life increases.

Ondustil is a kind of metal tile, which is covered with mineral granulate, which contributes to the creation of the effect of a three-dimensional tiled roof. The high cost of this material classifies it as an elite coating, but it fully corresponds to the level of its technical indicators. It is durable, durable, fire-resistant, resistant to atmospheric phenomena, and also provides good noise insulation.

Metal shingles

Metal tile photo This is a profiled steel sheet measuring 1 x 0.5 m. Its surface is covered with mineral granulate in an acrylic binder. Externally, the metal tile is very similar to the ceramic one.

In our country it is available in the form of sheets made of galvanized steel, slightly profiled, without external finishing.

These types of roofing are very common in individual construction and successfully replaces sheets of galvanized steel.

Roofing with this coating is at least 50 years old. The height and dimensions of the sheets are extremely varied.

The disadvantage of this material is its considerable susceptibility to corrosion due to the specific properties of aluminum.

With the help of this material it is possible to repair the roof of the roof of the house with your own hands, which has an unlimited lifespan. Its thickness reaches 0.6 or 0.8 mm, and the width - 670 mm. Mounting this type of roof is very time-consuming and impossible without the availability of special skills. First, the finished roof has a shiny surface, which subsequently darkens.

Self-repair.
