How to build a joiner's workbench with your own hands?

When you came to the unequivocal conclusion that without a workbench to you in any way, it remains only to decide whether to knock it off, that is called "from scratch" from sawn timber, or to use as a basis some ready-made table( or part of it).The latter option is convenient, but not every piece of furniture is suitable for a workbench, for example, a kitchen table will shake quite quickly.

If you want to get a workbench without much labor, it is best to use an old desk, and it is desirable that it is not from the chipboard, but from the array.

Ideal - a table with thumbs. Even if its table-top is made of a chipboard, it does not matter, we can replace it more suitable. We take planed bars measuring 30x60 millimeters and 1.5 meters long, in an amount of 30 pieces( you can more or less, at your discretion), carefully sand each to a smooth surface and glue together a large prefabricated shield.

Surface its surface and again sand it. Bottom we fix with cross-members from similar brusks fastened with screws to each element of the shield. You can not glue the veneer, just lay it on the base of the desk and fix it with corners. But, of course, this is not yet a workbench, but only a workpiece. It is necessary to make a number of additional devices in order to start work.

Homemade workbench, when there is nothing to take as a basis

The average height of a person is about 180 centimeters, therefore, the workbench should be knocked together by a height of about 94 centimeters. However, you are making a workplace for yourself, which means that the height should be adjusted to your own growth. For the legs we use bars measuring 10x10 centimeters, we connect them to each other by cross-beams in 2 tiers, the lower ones are mounted at a height of 10 centimeters from the floor, the upper ones are flush with the tops of the legs to form the basis for the countertop.

As for the carpentry board, we have already told you how it can be done, which is suitable for a simple version, suitable for complex assembly. Among other things, homemade workbench can also be provided with drawers, for this under the upper crossbars we attach skids which are used for sliding boards in computer tables, only this time rollers will be put on rollers where you can store drills, nails, screws and other small items.

So, the workbench is almost ready. It remains only to make it more sound, further strengthening the cross-members with slopes. The worktop is laid on the base, ensuring that in front of it, it extends beyond the edge of the frame by 10 centimeters, on the sides - on 5 or 6 .This is necessary to install the clamps and clamps. We fix the carpentry board to the upper cross-pieces and the tops of the legs with corners so that there are no screws on the work surface.

We are considering the drawing of the workbench

Actually, not even the drawing of the workbench, but the layout of the table top, placement on the work surface of all necessary tools for work. First of all, the vice, they should not interfere, so we set them on the left, if you're right handed, and on the opposite side, if you're used to working with your left hand. In addition to the vice, it is necessary to place several wedges on the workbench, that is, wedge-shaped cutouts in the boards laid on the table top. These abutments, in combination with the vice, will provide better processing of the blanks.

If you work with a jigsaw, it will be useful to fix a saw-bench to the workbench, it is moved over the edge of centimeters by 20 and allows a more precise cut of plywood. To make such a table in a board with a width of 120 and a length of 250 millimeters along one of the short sides, make a wedge-shaped cutout, in the widest part of 50 millimeters, in the corner of which we drill a hole with a diameter of 1 centimeter. You can fasten the board with screws, or you can make it removable by connecting it with a clamp. By the same principle, the abutments for the boards on the surface of the workbench are made.
