How and what to close the doorway How and what to close the doorway.

Quite often, major repairs of the apartment are accompanied by re-planning and, as a consequence, the transfer of interior doors. In such cases, it becomes necessary to repair the old doorways. How to close the doorway yourself?

To close the doorway you need:
- perforator;
- bricks;
- mortar;
- plaster;
- finishing materials

1. Select the material. It should be noted that doorways should be covered with materials that are identical in properties to those used in the wall construction. For example, it is recommended to cover a doorway in a brick wall with brickwork.

2. Prepare the opening. Remove the door frame. Remove the plaster all around the perimeter of the opening, about 15 cm from its edges. To preserve the ligation of the masonry, it is necessary to cut down half the bricks that are in each of the 4 rows.

3. Lay the bricks on mortar. Wait until it hardens and apply the first layer of plaster. Make the finish. Install skirting boards.

4. No less common way to design a doorway is to build a niche. Remove the door frame. Lay the opening with masonry, but lay it not on a level with the wall, but slightly deepening. Make a niche just like the walls touching it. Make shelves. Spend the highlight.

5. An alternative way of decorating an old doorway is to install a false door. With this version of the finish, you need to keep the door frame and cloth. Cover the opening with brickwork. Close the door and firmly lock it in this position. The outer plane of the blind door can be used, for example, as a drawing board.

6. Another option than closing the doorway is to create a small built-in cabinet. For these purposes, it is necessary to make the masonry even deeper than in the previous versions. The door frame remains in place. Install the shelves in the resulting recess, along the entire height of the doorway. Hang the door with the glass. This locker can be used both in the kitchen - for storing spices or dishes, and in the room - for books or any small things.
