If you decide to make a kitchenette yourself in the kitchen, then you need to look at the upholstery of the sofa. It is upholstery that can create an original and interesting idea - without it, furniture is not so attractive. Now there is considerable demand for soft upholstery, microfiber and artificial leather.

It should also be taken into account that if the kitchen table is made of natural wood, rather than chipboard and plastic, then the kitchen corner is made of wood.

We choose the type of kitchen corner

Kitchen corners are stationary and sliding.

  1. Stationary. Visually, this is an integral structure, but its individual elements can be separated and rearranged, modifying the kitchenette. The base on which the elements are fastened can be one-sided, two-sided, direct, "L-shaped".Therefore, before you start planning and build a kitchenette drawing, you need to decide which design you need.
  2. Sliding. Such sofas increase the useful area, so they can be used as one more sleeping place in the apartment, thanks to the retractable space. Basically, such furniture is equipped with a "dolphin" type mechanism.

The stationary corners are much easier to build - even those who do not have much experience in the "furniture business" will cope with them.

Choose the upholstery for the kitchen corner

Sitting on a wooden stool is of course not as pleasant as on a soft and comfortable chair. At present, a wide variety of materials are used for upholstering kitchen corners, among them:

  1. Leatherette. The most popular material, of course, is leatherette, as it is not only practical and convenient, but also very economical and unpretentious. In addition, this is a real find for the kitchen, as this room is daily affected by humidity, as well as various sources of pollution, and leatherette, in addition, is resistant to external irritants and scratches. Care for this upholstery is not at all difficult - just brush the sofa with any neutral detergent. Even after wet cleaning, leatherette retains its original form.
  2. Jacquard. Another practical option for upholstering the sofa in the kitchen, as synthetic fibers admirably let in air, repel water and dirt, practically do not electrify, do not cause allergies.
  3. Velor. The pile of this takna is whimsical both in care and in relation to the change in illumination. Velor can "salted" - these shiny places have a completely unpresentable appearance.
  4. Flock. This material consists of nylon and cotton - they are held together by a special glue base. Due to the stronger pile, which is thicker and stronger, the upholstery cover is used much more often.
  5. Microfiber. Thanks to cotton or polyester microfibers that have a fleecy surface, the bright microfiber is durable and easy to clean.

We choose a filler for soft seats

To make the seats elastic, but at the same time, soft and comfortable, you need to use a good filler. There are several types of groups:

  1. E( ST) - the normal rigidity of the filler.
  2. EL - increased rigidity of the filler.
  3. HL - rigid filler
  4. HR - high elasticity of the filler.
  5. ER is a soft filler.

When choosing a filler, remember that the softer it is, the more comfortable it will be to sit. If you plan to use the corner also as an extra bed, you need to put the springs. This will make it more comfortable and durable.

  4. The seat has a trapezoidal shape. We process it in the same way as described above in the section "Making a long sofa".
  5. The elements of the backrest should be clamped on the dowels between the sidewalls, and then additionally fixed with corners from the metal to the stop bars.
  6. Upholstery is carried out according to the same rules and principles described above.
  7. Fasten the long sofa( or sofas) and the connecting part with self-tapping screws or with metal fasteners. The latter option is more advantageous, since it will be possible to change the angle to the right or left side.
